Long bio (250 words)

Tanya Johnston is a Perth based founder and investor who builds care businesses and the technology that runs them, across disability services, healthtech and pharmaceutical supply.

Her path has been anything but conventional. After experiencing homelessness as a teenager, Tanya started her corporate career in Sydney at 18. She went on to spend ten years in Vietnam, where she held senior HR leadership at Nielsen, leading HR for more than 600 employees and 500 contractors. In 2012 she left corporate life to launch an events and entertainment company, promoting Disney Live twice, organising Charity Polo Cups and managing artists under Universal Music.

In 2017 Tanya returned to Australia and worked in disability services across rural and central Western Australia, then as State Relationship Manager WA at NDSP Plan Managers. In 2019 she founded District 360 with a Boost Your Local Workforce government grant, growing it to a team of almost 100 within about a year and more than 150 at its peak. Today the group employs 110 people.

Running a provider from the inside showed her how poorly most software served the sector. In 2021 she began building LAMA, now LAMA Care, an all in one NDIS and aged care management platform that launched commercially in 2026. She founded District Tech Group, the technology company behind LAMA Care and Mediscript360, and is a partner in Pure Lyf and Darma Fields.

Tanya believes technology in regulated industries must be built by people who understand the operations. She is a mother of three and a passionate DJ, and District 360 itself began with taking participants to a music festival.
